MLS Release

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's soccer senior Jamie Luchini has been named one of 59 NCAA Division I college players to be invited to the 2016 adidas MLS Player Combine, as announced by Major League Soccer Friday. Luchini will have a chance to showcase his talents in front of all 20 MLS clubs in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. on Jan. 7-12, 2016.

Luchini is the only student-athlete from the Patriot League invited to the combine and joins players from top programs across the country including national champion Stanford, national finalist Clemson and several other schools from Power-5 conferences.

The 59 invited players will be eligible for selection in the 2016 SuperDraft, which will take place on Thursday Jan. 17 in Baltimore, Md. A committee of MLS and Division I coaches from every conference selected the 59 invitees, all of whom completed their college eligibility in 2015.

Should Luchini be drafted in January, he would become the fifth-ever Mountain Hawk to be picked in the MLS draft and first since Adam Welch in 2009. A total of 16 former Lehigh players have spent time in professional leagues.

Luchini, who was recently named first team All-Region by the NSCAA, finished his senior season with a league-best 29 points behind ten goals and nine assists. The Wexford, Pa. native is also a two-time All-Patriot League representative, three-time Academic All-League member and CoSIDA Academic All-American. He earned Patriot League Tournament MVP honors after securing eight points thanks three goals and two assists in Lehigh's three PLT games as he helped lead the Mountain Hawks to their second-ever league crown and fourth NCAA Tournament appearance.
