Turner garners Academic All-League laurels

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh volleyball senior Leah Turner has been named to the seven-person Academic All-Patriot League team thanks to her success in the classroom and on the court, as announced by the league Wednesday afternoon.
Turner holds a strong 3.57 grade point average as a Physics major and has landed on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in each year of her Lehigh career. The Waukesha, Wis. native earned first team All-Patriot League recognition after averaging a league-best mark of 4.06 kills per set during Patriot League play. Turner tallied double-digit kills in 22 matches and recorded six double-doubles throughout the season. This is the first Academic All-League honor of Turner's career.
To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and have played in at least 50 percent of her team's matches. Freshmen and students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
The Mountain Hawks finished the regular season with a 19-12 overall record and 11-5 league mark. Lehigh will be making its fifth-straight Patriot League Tournament appearance after earning the No. 3 seed. The Mountain Hawks will face No. 2 Army West Point Saturday in the semifinals at American's Bender Arena. The winner will advance to Sunday's 1 p.m. championship game.
