PRINCETON, N.J. - The Lehigh men's cross country team wrapped up its season on Friday afternoon with an 11th place finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals on the campus of Princeton University. Senior Evan Hardy led the Mountain Hawks' pack with a 32nd place time of 31:42.4 in the 10K event.
Right behind Hardy was sophomore Patrick Reilly who used a time of 31:44.7 to finish in 36th place. Senior Evan Ward was next in line for Lehigh, running 68th with a mark of 32:25.4, and fellow senior Sean Burke finished in 100th place overall at 33:02.9.
Sophomore Kyle Kirk crossed the finish line in 112th place by completing the course in 33:20.4, and junior Nicholas Hirdt (34:22.8) rounded out the field of Lehigh's six runners, finishing in 136th place.
"Evan Hardy and Pat Reilly did a great job battling towards the front," said head coach Todd Etters. "However, we lost our pack way too early and it really cost us."
Nationally ranked No. 15 Georgetown took home the team championship, and will be joined by No. 23 Penn at the NCAA National Championships after the Quakers finished in second place on Friday. Patriot League champion Navy took sixth place to lead the league, with Bucknell coming in just one spot and nine points ahead of Lehigh for 10th place.
Lehigh's runners will now prepare for the indoor track season, which is set to begin at Rauch Fieldhouse on Dec. 4 with the Lehigh Fast Times Meet.
