"The continued commitment of Mr. Ulrich to our tennis programs has enabled us to build one of the finest outdoor tennis facilities in the Northeast," said head women's tennis coach and Howard Talmud '77 head men's coach Wouter Hendrix. "The new Ulrich Tennis Courts will greatly enhance the student-athlete experience and make a big difference in player development and recruiting. The fan experience will also receive a major boost thanks to improved viewing.
"I am extremely thankful for Mr. Ulrich's generosity," continued Hendrix. "Our men's and women's teams are very excited and proud to represent Lehigh in this amazing new setting."
The upgraded facility includes refurbished and newly painted courts and fences, a brand new viewing pavilion and walkway. There are now six courts on each side of the viewing pavilion.
Both the men's and women's teams, in addition to donor Ronald Ulrich '67, Lehigh president John Simon, Athletics Director Joe Sterrett and other special guests were in attendance at the dedication ceremony on Oct. 3. The dedication coincided with the Lehigh Invitational, the Mountain Hawks' first fall home event of the season.
The Mountain Hawks take to Ulrich Courts for the second time this fall when Lehigh hosts the Patriot League kickoff this weekend.
