
Matula earns Patriot League Player of the Week recognition

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh volleyball junior Amy Matula has been named Patriot League Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday. Matula helped Lehigh capture two league road wins last week as the Mountain Hawks improved to 5-0 in Patriot League play for the first time in program history.
Matula facilitated Lehigh's offense as the Mountain Hawks swept Loyola and Navy in straight-sets and registered the team's fifth-straight win. The Mountain Hawks have now won seven of their last eight games, including four-consecutive 3-0 victories. The junior setter recorded 63 assists through six sets for an impressive average of 10.5 assists per set. The performance helped Matula reclaim the top spot on the Patriot League's leader board in assists per set, with a cumulative season average of 9.67.
The Lehigh co-captain posted her eighth double-double of the season in a 32 assists, 12 digs performance Thursday as the Mountain Hawks grabbed a 3-0 win at Loyola. Matula registered 28 assists and seven digs Friday at Navy as Lehigh completed the weekend sweep. She also recorded a pair of kills and a block in Lehigh's two wins.
Matula and the Mountain Hawks return to action Friday at 7 p.m. inside Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall when Lehigh hosts Bucknell. The Mountain Hawks then hit the road for a 4 p.m. Saturday match at Colgate. Both contests will be broadcast free of charge on the Patriot League Network.
