Mahalsky and Mason earn Patriot League Weekly awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's cross country team captured two Patriot League Weekly awards for their performances at the Main Line Invitational last Thursday. Senior Ryan Mahalsky was named Male Runner of the Week for the second time in his career, while freshman Scott Mason was named Rookie of the Week for the first time.
 
Mahalsky ran a 19:25.20 four-mile race at the Main line Invitational and finished first out of 119 runners for his second individual title of the season. The senior out ran competitors from teams such as Villanova, ranked ninth in the nation, Penn, ranked fifth in the Mid-Atlantic Region, and La Salle, ranked tenth in the Mid-Atlantic Region.  Lehigh currently sits in sixth place in the Mid-Atlantic regional polls.
 
Mason placed 25th out of 119 runners with a four-mile time of 20:23.10. Mason was Lehigh's third best finisher and its top freshman performer at the Main Line Invitational. In previous races this season, Mason has made a point to be part of Lehigh's tight pack of runners, finishing in 10th place in the 6K at the Lehigh Invitational (18:57.53) and 11th in the 8K at the Lehigh-Lafayette dual meet (25:46).
 
The Mountain Hawks will now prepare to host the 41st annual Paul Short Run presented by Asics this Saturday at 10 a.m.
