Fitzpatrick featured in NCAA Tournament program

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Recently graduated Lehigh women's lacrosse standout Alexandra Fitzpatrick has been selected for the 2014 IWLCA North-South All-Star Game to be played on Saturday, June 7 at Cabrini College in Radnor, Pa. The Division I game is set for 11:30 a.m. followed by Division II at 12:45 p.m. and Division III at 2 p.m. Fitzpatrick becomes the fourth Mountain Hawks in as many years selected for the event, following Lauren Dykstra in 2011, Leigh Ann Torcivia in 2012 and Julie McBrien last year.

The North-South Game features the top seniors in the nation from a wide variety of schools. Fitzpatrick is one of only six from the Patriot League selected, along with two from Boston University, two from Navy and one from Lafayette.

Fitzpatrick enjoyed a strong senior season in the brown and white, being named first team All-Patriot League for the second time in her career. She posted a 50.0 save percentage (fourth in the nation) and 8.12 GAA, spearheading a defense that ranked 23rd nationally. Fitzpatrick made a career-high 17 saves in the Patriot League opener vs. Bucknell, helping propel the Mountain Hawks to a 10-4 win and ultimately, their first league tournament appearance since 2011. Fitzpatrick recorded double-digit saves on six occasions, including 14 in a win over Lafayette and 11 in a big double overtime victory at Boston University. Lehigh handed the Terriers their first-ever Patriot League defeat.

Fitzpatrick was featured in this year's NCAA Tournament program as well.

Lehigh finished 4-4 in league play which included a big 12-11 double overtime win over Boston University on Apr. 5 to hand the Terriers their first-ever Patriot League defeat. Five players earned All-League honors while freshman Allison LaBeau was named Rookie of the Year. Lehigh was the only school other than Loyola to earn a major postseason award.
