Pacchioli named Baseball America preseason PL Player of the Year

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh baseball junior Justin Pacchioli has been named the preseason Patriot League Player of the Year by Baseball America  in its 2014 college preview issue. Pacchioli and sophomore Mike Garzillo were also named two of the league's top five prospects for the 2014-15 drafts.
 
Pacchioli was named the third-best Patriot League prospect for the 2014-15 drafts after claiming the fifth spot on the list a season ago. As Lehigh's starting center fielder, he led the Patriot League last season with a .366 batting average and tied for the league lead in triples with five. The Easton native recorded a team-leading .507 slugging percentage and a .441 on base percentage. He drove in 14 runs and stole 11 bases en route to being named second team All-Patriot League.
 
Garzillo was ranked as the fourth-best Patriot League prospect for the 2014-15 drafts. As a freshman last season, Garzillo played in 47 games, making 44 starts, while driving in 16 runs and tallying a .273 batting average. The infielder also stole 15 bases in his 15 attempts.
 
Pacchioli, Garzillo and the Mountain Hawks get their season under way on Feb. 21 in Davidson, N.C. against Mount St. Mary's. Lehigh makes its home debut on March 8 versus Coppin State at 12 p.m. on the Goodman Campus Baseball Field.
