Lehigh looks back at 2014 with annual banquet

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's soccer team took time to reflect upon the 2014 season and hand out team awards Saturday at the Mountain Hawks' annual awards banquet.
Freshman Doyle Tuvesson earned the Outstanding Athlete award, which is presented to the student-athlete who makes the most outstanding contribution to the athletic success of the team. Tuvesson finished the season as the team's second-leading scorer with five goals and four assists, good for 14 points. The Kennett Square, Pa. native was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week four times throughout the season, becoming just the second Patriot League player to have ever earned four Rookie of the Week awards.
The Scholar-Athlete award was presented to senior Brian Suchoski. The award, which is voted on by team members, is presented to a player who exemplifies academic success along with strong play on the field. Suchoski has tallied a 3.42 grade point average as a Computer Engineering major and is a three-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll member. The senior was a key leader on the field for the Mountain Hawks and transitioned from forward to defense during the 2014 season with great success.
The Coaches Award, presented to the student-athlete who made a noteworthy contributions to the team in areas of attitude, improvement and leadership was awarded to sophomore Justin Worley. The Reading, Pa. native was named second team All-Patriot League following after anchoring the Lehigh defense.
The Mountain Hawks were predicted to finish tenth in the Patriot League, but finished league play with a 10-8-1 overall mark and 5-3-1 record as Lehigh secured its first ten-win season since 2006. The Mountain Hawks earned the No. 4 seed in the Patriot League Tournament and fell to eventual champion Bucknell. After finishing the 2013 season ranked 187th in the final NCAA men's soccer RPI, Lehigh concluded action this season ranked 78th for an outstanding jump of 109 spaces.
