BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh field hockey team looked back to its 2014 season on Saturday with its annual awards banquet in the University Center. Seniors Steph Fratoni, Abby Sprinkel and Natalie Tacka reflected on their careers while team awards were handed out.

Lehigh's season was highlighted by winning four-of-five games in the middle of the season. The Mountain Hawks beat Towson 2-1 in overtime then topped Georgetown (4-2), Holy Cross (3-1) and Sacred Heart (4-2).

Athlete of the Year was presented to sophomore Gabby Tofig, who was named a second team All-Patriot League honoree. She led the Mountain Hawks in goals (8) and points (17), which was good for second and sixth in the Patriot League, respectively. Tofig scored at least one goal in each of Lehigh's four wins, including a career-high two goals against both Towson and Sacred Heart. She was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week after a weekend sweep of Holy Cross and Sacred Heart.

Also a second team All-League honoree, Fratoni received both the Scholar-Athlete Award and Coaches Award. She earned Scholar-Athlete honors for a second straight season after garnering Academic All-Patriot League laurels for the second year in a row. The Biology major owns an impressive cumulative GPA of 3.68.

The Coaches Award is presented to the student-athlete who made notable contributions to the well-being of the team in the areas of attitude, improvement and leadership. A three-time team captain, Fratoni has played multiple positions in her career and anchored the back line in 2014. She finished the season with one goal, one assist and three defensive saves, also earning Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week after Lehigh's weekend sweep of Holy Cross and Sacred Heart. Finishing her decorated career with two All-Patriot League and two Academic All-Patriot League honors, Fratoni posted three goals, ten assists, 16 points and ten defensive saves in a Lehigh uniform.

The Mountain Hawks' 2014 season was highlighted by a 4-1 stretch at the end of September. The team's five leading scorers all return next season, as well as sophomore Julia Ward in goal.
