BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's soccer junior Jamie Luchini has been named to the Academic All-Patriot League team for the second straight season, as announced by the league on Wednesday. The midfielder has been Lehigh's leading scorer in each of the past two seasons and holds an impressive 3.68 grade point average as a finance major.
Luchini repeats as an Academic All-League member after earning the honor a season ago. The junior is a two-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll member and has landed on the Dean's List three times thanks to semester GPAs greater than 3.6.
Luchini earned second team All-Patriot League recognition after leading Lehigh to a ten win season and the No. 4 seed in the Patriot League Tournament. He finished the regular season with 20 points, good for fourth-most in the Patriot League, behind six goals and a league-leading eight assists. The Wexford, Pa. native scored three game-winning goals and led the Mountain Hawks in shots. He was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week on Nov. 3 after helping secure a postseason berth for the Mountain Hawks.
Boston University goalkeeper Nick Thomson was named the Patriot League men's soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The league named 11 athletes to the Academic All-League team, with Luchini and Bucknell's Jesse Klug being the only non-senior student-athletes honored.
To be eligible for the Corvias Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and have played in at least 50 percent of his team's games. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
