BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following a pair of big road wins at Army and Holy Cross this weekend, Lehigh volleyball junior Amy Matula has been named the Patriot League Player of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Matula recorded her 12th and 13th double-doubles of the season as she averaged 10.8 assists and 3.22 digs per set in Lehigh's two wins at Army (3-1) and Holy Cross (3-2) Friday and Saturday. The setter tallied a career-high 59 assists (11.9 per set avg.) and tied her career high with 16 digs in a five-set victory at Holy Cross to help the Mountain Hawks pick up their 14th-straight win over the Crusaders Saturday. She also registered 39 assists and 13 digs to go along with four kills at Army to lead Lehigh to its first win in West Point since 2003.
This is Matula's second Patriot League Player of the Week award of the season and third of her career. She is the first Mountain Hawk to earn the award twice in one season since Taylor Poole in 2011.
