Â
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Former Lehigh men's basketball standout C.J. McCollum has been activated by Portland and is expected to make his NBA debut tonight (Tuesday) when the Trail Blazers play in Sacramento at 10 p.m. ET. McCollum is coming off a pair of strong performances rehabbing for the Idaho Stampede of the D-League over the weekend. The 10th overall pick in June's NBA Draft, McCollum has worked his way back from a second broken foot in seven months.
Â
Portland's broadcast of tonight's game will air on Comcast SportsNet Northwest while Sacramento's will air on CSN California. Sacramento's broadcast can be seen on DirecTV channel 699 (699-1 for HD), Dish Network (channel 453) and AT&T (channel 768/1768). For the complete TV listings, please click here.
Â
In early October, McCollum broke the same foot he originally broke at VCU last January. He underwent a non-operative ultrasound procedure to repair the fifth metatarsal fracture in his left foot. McCollum was cleared for 3-on-3 play on Dec. 12 and full practice on Dec. 20 before rehabbing with Idaho over the weekend. He wrapped up his stint with 24 points in 23 minutes on Saturday, shooting 11-of-23 from the field. McCollum scored 13 points on Friday evening.
Â
McCollum wrapped up a historic career at Lehigh by becoming the Patriot League's all-time leading scorer with 2,323 career points. He was on pace to break the Lehigh career scoring record before his mid-season injury; his final point total is still good for second in school history. McCollum was a two-time All-American and Patriot League Player of the Year, leading the Mountain Hawks to two league titles and NCAA Tournament appearances, highlighted by a 30-point effort in Lehigh's historic 75-70 win over Duke.
Â
McCollum became the first player in school history and only second in Patriot League history to be selected in the NBA Draft; Bucknell's Mike Muscala became the third later in the draft. McCollum will suit up for an impressive Trail Blazers team that holds the second best record in the Western Conference (26-8). McCollum will team with reigning NBA Rookie of the Year (and fellow mid-major star) Damian Lillard to form a dynamic backcourt for years to come.
