Fitzgerald named Cross Country Rookie of the Week

Patriot League Weekly Awards – 9/23/13
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh freshman Alexander Fitzgerald was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday. Fitzgerald placed sixth in Saturday's Lehigh-Lafayette dual with a time of 27:03.90.
Fitzgerald's finish in the 8K race helped the Mountain Hawks to a 15-50 victory over Lafayette, which served as Lehigh's 15th consecutive win over the Leopards. The Setauket, N.Y. native was racing in his first collegiate 8K and was the top freshman finisher in the field. This is the first Rookie of the Week accolade for Fitzgerald.
Mountain Hawk senior Tyler Mueller garnered Honorable Mention recognition for his first place finish in Saturday's dual meet. Mueller finished the race with a time of 25:23.10 to grab his third collegiate win and second consecutive Lehigh-Lafayette dual meet win.
Fitzgerald, Mueller and the Mountain Hawks will return to action on October 5 when they host the 40th annual Paul Short Run, presented by Asics and Schuylkill Valley Sports.
