BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh volleyball freshman Mariah Brantley has been named Patriot League Rookie of the Week as announced on Monday. The libero made her first career starts this weekend as she filled in for senior two-time Patriot League Libero of the Year Rachel Charles who was sidelined due to injury.

Brantley recorded 75 digs in four matches this weekend, all part of the Crosstown Invitational. She averaged 4.69 digs per set, which ranks among the leaders of the Patriot League. The Ashburn, Va. native's 26 digs against Morgan State was the team's season high.

Mountain Hawk junior Jade Van Streepen was recognized as honorable mention on the Patriot League Weekly Honor Roll after leading Lehigh with 51 kills last week and recording three double-doubles that came against Villanova, Morgan State and Marist.

Lehigh accumulated a 3-2 record through its five games last week. The Mountain Hawks claimed 3-0 wins against Quinnipiac and St. Francis (N.Y.) and a 3-2 win over Marist. Lehigh's 8-3 start to the season is its best start since 1986.

The Mountain Hawks will open Patriot League play at home this Wednesday when they host rival Lafayette in Leeman-Turner Arena at 7 p.m.
