McCloskey named Patriot League Rookie of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh women's basketball freshman Kiernan McCloskey has been named Patriot League Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday.
McCloskey was recognized after setting a pair of new career-highs against Saint Peter's with her ten points and nine rebounds. She shot 8-for-9 from the free throw line, making half of the Mountain Hawks' shots from the charity stripe. This is the first Patriot League weekly honor of McCloskey's career.
The Fort Washington, Pa. native is now the second Mountain Hawk freshman to earn Rookie of the Week recognition this season after Kayla Burton garnered the plaudit on Nov. 11. It marks the first time two different Lehigh freshmen have been named Patriot League Rookies of the Week in the same season since the 2008-09 campaign when Alexa Williams and Emily Gratch earned the recognition.
Sophomore Kerry Kinek garnered honorable mention recognition after putting up a career-high 25 points against Saint Peter's last Monday in Stabler Arena. The impressive effort came off a career-high 12 made field goals and notched the sophomore's fifth 20-plus point showing in just eight games this season. The Whitehall, Pa. native secured her tenth double-digit scoring game in a row, dating back to last season.
McCloskey, Kinek and the Mountain Hawks will return to action this Friday and Saturday when Lehigh hosts Vermont, Delaware and Youngstown State in the Christmas City Classic at Stabler Arena. The Mountain Hawks start off the tournament with a 5:00 p.m. Friday contest versus the Catamounts.
