Charles and Van Streepen garner All-Patriot League recognition

BETHLEHEM, Pa – Lehigh volleyball senior Rachel Charles was named the Patriot League Libero of the Year for the third consecutive year, while junior Jade Van Streepen was awarded second team All-Patriot League recognition, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon. Along with earning Libero of the Year, Charles was also named a first team All-Patriot League performer.
Charles is the only player to win the Libero of the Year award since it began in 2011. The Farmington Hills, Mich. native is a dual-threat with her strong defense and serve. She currently ranks 14th in the nation in service aces per set, averaging 0.46 and recording a total of 41. Charles averaged 4.57 digs per set and racked up a total of 407 digs in the regular season, to help her become Lehigh's all-time career digs leader.
Van Streepen has been named to the second team All-Patriot League to claim her first career league honor. She tallied a team-leading 291 kills during the 2013 season to lead the Mountain Hawk offense. Her 3.23 kills per set average ranks fourth in the Patriot League, while she also finished fourth on the team with 194 digs.
Charles, Van Streepen and the Mountain Hawks will appear in their third-straight Patriot League Tournament on Satuday at 2 p.m. when the fourth-seeded Mountain Hawks take on No. 1 American. The match will be broadcast live on the Patriot League Network.
