Patriot League Cross Country All-Academic Teams
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's cross country senior Tyler Mueller and sophomore Evan Hardy were named to the Academic All-Patriot League team, as announced by the league on Monday. The runners were two of eight to be named to the team, as Lehigh was one of three schools to land two on the prestigious list.
A bioengineering major and philosophy minor from Pottstown, Pa., Mueller was named to the Academic All-League team for the second straight year. The senior has accumulated a 3.23 grade point average throughout his time at Lehigh and was named the Mountain Hawks' Scholar Athlete of the Year last season.
Mueller crossed the line in first place at Patriot League Championships two weeks ago to be named Patriot League Runner of the Year and become the first Lehigh runner to ever accomplish the feat. His team-leading efforts this season led to two Patriot League Runner of the Week and two ECAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week honors.
A mechanical engineering major from Williamsport, Md., Hardy garnered Academic All-League honors for the first time in his career. The sophomore has tallied a 3.71 GPA, including a perfect 4.0 semester last spring and landed on the Dean's List in the fall of 2012.
Hardy was Lehigh's fourth finisher at Patriot League Championships, crossing the line in 18th place. Hardy's finish helped the Mountain Hawks secure second place at the race.
Mueller, Hardy and the Mountain Hawks will return to action this Friday when they host the NCAA Division I Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship on the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course. The men's 10K is set to start at 12 p.m.
