WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Lehigh men's track and field team enjoyed a solid performance at the Army six-team meet on Sunday as the squad finished third with 93.2 points. Sophomore James Miller and senior Stephen Tutunjian won their respective events, the 5,000 meter run and triple jump, to lead the way.
“The guys had pretty solid performances,” said Lehigh head coach Matt Utesch. “I think our sprinters did a really nice job; we had solid performances out of our distance guys too. Coming back from cross country, they ran extremely well. And some of the usual standouts like [Stephen Tutunjian] won as well.”

Lehigh was followed by Rider in fourth (86.5 points), then Columbia (77) and Williams (24.5). Miller enjoyed a strong performance in the 5,000 meter run, winning it in 14:55.00, more than 25 seconds better than Army's Ricardo Galindo in second. Senior Evan Flach and sophomore Tyler Mueller weren't far behind, coming in third (15:04.64) and fourth (15:08.31), respectively.

Tutunjian's triple jump of 14.61m earned Lehigh another 10 points. The Mountain Hawks enjoyed a strong 200 meter dash as junior Devin Monroe came in second (22.88) while sophomore Martin Otieno placed fifth (22.96). Monroe also placed third in the 60 meter dash (7.09) while freshman Justin Mahoney was fourth in the 400 meter dash (50.81).

A pair of Mountain Hawks finished near the top of the 800 meter run as freshman Christopher Watson was fourth (1:58.56) and sophomore Kenneth Wilkinson fifth (1:58.90). Meanwhile, sophomore Samuel Bernitt enjoyed a strong 3,000 meter run, finishing fourth (8:39.16).

In other field action, sophomores Ryan Paquin and Seth Robinson finished in third and fourth, respectively in 60 meter hurdles with times of 8.47 and 8.51.

The high jumpers had a good day, led by senior Stephen Rumizen who finished second (2.00m) while sophomore Patrick Ciez was part of a four-way tie for third (1.95m). Tutunjian and Paquin each scored in the long jump, finishing fifth (6.53m) and sixth (6.39m).

“Being as competitive as we were with a Patriot League school (powerhouse) is always good for us,” said Utesch. “I'm happy with how we finished up as it bodes well for the rest of the season.”
